Dominican Youth Assembly

A group of participants are attentive at the talk on 'Mission'

On November 5, 2010 a group of approximately 80 young people met at the Marian Hall, Holy Name Convent for the first-ever Dominican Youth Assembly held in Trinidad.

Participants were drawn mainly from the Holy Name Schools, Training Centre, St. Dominic’s Home, the Catholic Students’ Movement of the University Chaplaincy and one parish.  It was aimed at sharing with the young people various aspects of Dominican life and spirituality.

The event was organised to be very interactive and presentations on each of the four pillars of Dominican Life – prayer, study, mission and community life – were held at locations on the compound. The afternoon session was aimed at exploring the significance of Dominican Symbols.

Dominican spirituality can be lived in many ways: as Dominican Youth, Laity, Associates, Sisters, Nuns, Priests or Brothers.
